Shanneyganock
Shanneyganock arose from the long-time musical partnership of
Chris Andrews & Mark Hiscock. The Long Haul features
original & traditional material by Chris Andrews’ bass
& Mark Hiscock’s tenor vocals, accompanied with an ample
helping of up-tempo instrumentals. Guest musicians include
Maureen Ennis (Ennis Sisters), D’Arcy Broderick (The Fables)
and Patrick Moran (The Punters). One listen to The Long Haul,
the debut release from Shanneyganock, will demonstrate what
happens when these Newfoundland lads get serious. |

Shanneyganock is able to find some
diamonds in the rough each time they embark on a new recording
project and this time is no exception. The opening song ”The
Wren” is a beautiful but relatively unknown song that will
surely become a standard. “Santa’s A Bayman Like Us”,
written by Wince Coles, is a classic in Newfoundland and will be
available for the first time in many years. In the Christmas
tradition, Shanneyganock has recorded some of the Christmas
standards: “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, “What Child Is
This”, “We Three Kings”, and “O Holy Night”.
This CD also features “The
Marvelous Toy” and “Rusty Chevrolet” which poke a little fun
and show the lighter side of Christmas.
Chris Andrews wrote and recites
“The Star of Logy Bay”, a Christmas story about the boat that
saved Christmas for an Outport community. Chris and Mark also
wrote another original song on the CD “Christmastime In
Newfoundland” which tells the age old story of Newfoundlanders
who want to be home at Christmas Time. |
